The Cameroonian passport has been ranked the 89th on the Global Passport Ranking with 53 destinations its holders can access without a prior visa.
According to the 2024 Henley Passport Index recently made public by a UK-based firm, Henley & Partners, holders of Cameroonian passports have unlimited entries into 53 countries of the world without visas in their possession. The implications is that such travelers will not submit themselves to the usual cumbersome administrative procedures involved with the acquisition of visas at consular services of diplomatic missions. Traveling to or transiting through any of these 53 countries, a holder of a Cameroonian passport only needs to carry a valid passport as the only requirement to be granted access by the immigration authorities.
As per the index, the Cameroonian passport occupies the 14th position of the least African passport with global visa-free destinations. That is, the 44th place out of the 54 passports surveyed on the Africa continent. The index includes 199 different passports and 227 different travel destinations with exclusive data from the International Air Transport Authority (IATA).
Historically, the Green-Red-Yellow passport got its debut entry on the Henley Passport Index in 2006 which marked its top performance as the 70th best global passport. By 2021, this promising performance had plummeted to the 98th on the global scale, its worst record this far.
Among the 53 visa-free destinations available to holders of valid Cameroonian passports, twenty six of them are visa-on-arrival (VOA) countries and one Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) country.
